The B Love Essential Mid Set includes four friction mallets (#4, #5, #6, and #6.5) designed to bring out a broad range of mid and lower tones from your gong. Rather than striking the gong, you gently draw the silicone heads across its surface, producing sustained singing tones, rich overtones, and deep, resonant sounds.
This is B Love's most versatile set, with four head sizes that respond differently across the gong's surface. From clear mid-range singing tones to lower rumbles and drones, the set gives you plenty of room to experiment. It's a good starting point for anyone exploring friction playing, as well as a useful range for experienced gong players.
Flumies are handcrafted by Bear Love and his team in the mountains of West Wales, UK. The number indicates the head diameter in centimetres: a #4 has a 4 cm head, for example.

Construction
Each Flumie is made with B Love's own silicone compound, designed for durability and easy cleaning with a damp cloth. The hardwood handles provide stable, comfortable control and are individually numbered and finished with a hand-soldered B Love maker's mark.
Playing
Place the head against the gong and draw it slowly and gently across the surface. Experiment with speed, pressure, and position to find different singing tones and overtones. Switching between the four sizes lets you move through the gong's middle and lower frequencies, with the response depending on the instrument.
